SUMMARY:
This document outlines the employment prerequisites and job responsibilities for the position of Sr. Technician, Electrical Engineering. Work on assignments that are complex in nature where judgement is required in resolving problems or making routine recommendations. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel. Apply basic and some advanced techniques and procedures to assigned projects.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for performing a wide variety of research and/or development laboratory tasks. Perform detailed analyses and tests. Assist in compiling observations, analyzing data and interpreting results. Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies. May write experimental reports, summaries and protocols. May also develop and maintain record keeping for experiment performed. Perform simple troubleshooting and calibration of instruments. Work is performed under general supervision.
III. SPECIFIC DUTIES:
 Provide intermediate technical assistance to the design and development of medical infusion pumps and ancillary equipment including, but not limited to:
 Leading aspects of fabrication and assembly of prototypes, test equipment and engineering models.
 Leading aspects of testing, evaluation and diagnosis of customer returns and engineering test devices.
 Leading aspects of and coordinating Investigation and root cause analysis of assembly, sub-assembly and mechanical component designs and failures.
 Leading aspects of the testing of design concepts, prototypes and modifications, including circuit analysis, test, and troubleshooting.
 Leading aspects of development of Engineering Test Plans, recording of test results and creation of Engineering Reports and related documentation.
 Design, prototyping and building of test fixtures and manufacturing equipment.
 Creating Manufacturing Work Instructions and related documentation.
 Conducting validation activities, as required.
 Assemble and test experimental electrical parts or make changes in parts based on knowledge, experience, and communication with Engineers.
 Prepare wiring diagrams, layout drawings, or engineering specifications for new equipment. Once a design for new equipment has been perfected, may assist leading a team to create/modify to the final output.
 Design of electronic circuits for micro-controllers, motor controls and associated circuits, sensing systems and associated circuits.
 Verification of circuit designs through the use of CAE simulation tools, test equipment and data analysis as needed.
 Design of device hardware specifications based on customer or user requirements.
 Development of electrical designs to meet all of the specifications and parameters as per the design specifications.
 Work with such hand tools as wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers, and soldering irons.
 Use precise instruments such as voltmeters, which measure electricity.
 Verify analog and digital electronic circuits for micro-controller based system.
 Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
 Assist with troubleshooting Engineering problems.
 Responsible to follow laboratory procedures for methods associated with control of records, test variables, equipment calibration and documentation practices.
 Perform other duties as defined by the Manager.
IV. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
 Experience in a laboratory environment or manufacture of a technical product, familiarity with GMP/GLP. Proficient use of laboratory equipment and tools.
 Basic knowledge of FDA, GMP, and ISO 9000/9001 principles.
 Intermediate working knowledge of computers, math and electronic designs.
 Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Word.
 Basic understanding of documentation systems.
 Intermediate written and verbal communication skills.
 Must be able to read and understand blueprints, as well as engineering handbooks.
 Solid understanding of and capability of debugging electronic printed circuit boards.
 Intermediate skill in soldering, both surface mount and thru-hole.
 Intermediate ability to work in groups with other engineers.
 Moderate science and/or math skills.
 Ability to perform moderate statistical analysis and make recommendations to engineers.
 Advanced ability to handle a few assignments with some supervision to ensure customer needs are met.
 Ability to lead 1-2 team members simultaneously covering multiple assignments, demonstrating leadership capabilities on a regular basis.
 Detail-oriented and able to think critically about possible solutions to problems.
 Demonstrate intermediate skills in test method development, test fixture design and development, data analysis and report writing.
 Capable of holding strict confidentiality and discretion.
 Demonstrates expertise in particular functional area.
V. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
 Engineering Degree Required
 Electrical experience in the area of control circuits and component specification is desired.
 2-4 years of experience in related field.
